Programme Manager (243jc) – London and Anglia – up to £45k + Car Allowance + Benefits.

 

My client is a Civil Engineering Consultancy specialising in Structures Asset Management Engineering and difficult access inspections of the Rail and Highway infrastructure with offices based across the UK.

 

In this role you will be supporting the Examinations Manager and your role will be to support the Rail Team for a specified programme area in the efficient and cost-effective delivery of the structural examinations programme

 

Therefore, your key responsibilities will include:

·         Ensure that safety is always the priority, promote safe working practices, ensure full implementation and compliance with Key Processes and Safety Responsibility Matrix

·         Undertake the role of Nominated CRE (Operations) (where appointed)

·         Undertake the role of Responsible Manager to ensure that the appropriate Safe System of Work (SSOW) is implemented

·         Lead the creation, development, and enhancement of the baseline programme through the Planning Robustness process

·         Ensure that the programming and planning of the examination of structures is done in accordance with project requirements, updating the Exams Manager with route progress information as required

·         Work closely with the Resource Manager(s) to ensure that work is planned to optimise the use of available resources

·         Work closely with the Planning Team to ensure that all SSOW documentation, track access and safety critical resource requirements are in place to deliver the programme

·         Advise the Exams Manager on the procurement of suppliers and sub-contractors where required to support and enhance the core team delivery

·         Plan for all non-rail access, plant, and equipment necessary to undertake the examinations, i.e., TM arrangements, MEWP/RRV provision, Scaffold, Pontoon etc

·         Ensure that all required enabling works are identified in a timely manner and then co-ordinated with the Enabling Works Team, in line with the examination programme

·         Support and advise the Exams Manager and Commercial Manager on workbank change and compensation events.

·         Manage all exam dependencies, ensuring that any issues are flagged and dealt with or escalated at the earliest opportunity

 

To be eligible for this role, you will need the following experience, qualifications, and skills:

·         Over 10yrs experience in the rail industry, specifically planning operations on-site in a live environment

·         Degree qualified, ideally in Civil Engineering, Project Management, or a related discipline

·         A recognised project management qualification or accreditation, i.e., MAPM, RPP etc OR recognised engineering accreditation, i.e., MICE, MPWI, MIStrE”

·         Previous demonstrable experience in an examination’s delivery role in the rail environment

·         PTS, IOSH Managing Safely, SMSTS

 

The ideal candidate will come from a construction background who has experience in carrying out periodic building and/or infrastructure inspections where you are checking for faults and structural weakness and you are now seeking to move into a more managerial role, where you would be responsible for running a team of inspectors working on a timeline of periodic inspections across the region.
