Registering as a new user
If you have not done so already, you can register as a new member of this site by clicking any of the various ‘sign up’ or ‘register’ buttons around the site, or by clicking this link.
This will take you to a short registration page that looks like this:
You’ll be asked to enter your email address, create a password and confirm your password. Next you’ll be asked to choose a ‘handle’ or a username. We recommend using something like your name so people know who you are, such as ‘SteveSmith’ or ‘Steve88’.
However, if you wish to remain anonymous on the platform, you can choose something completely non-identifying. We’ll talk you through more about anonymous profiles in the profile lesson of this course. Please do not choose an offensive handle as it may be changed.
There are two profile types for you to choose from: Individual or Organisation. If you are setting up a personal page, choose ‘individual’, if you are setting up a page for military support organisation, use ‘Organisation’.
Which best describes you?
Next you’l be asked to choose the description that best describes you from veteran regular, veteran reserves, serving regular, serving reserves or family member. If you choose a role that includes service (veteran or serving) then you’ll have a chance to verify your service after you’re registered.
The ‘Tell us about you’ box will become the bio on your profile. This can be changed at any time.
After you have completed the details an email confirmation will be sent to you including a dynamic link with which to login for the first time. Congratulations, you’re now a member of the peer support network for veterans, serving military and family members!
